first run — deadline and cap messages verbatim, ping answered in 2 ms
while a sleep-2 child was parked, SIGTERM exit 0 with the sleep-30
child verifiably gone (pid checked from outside)
- service logs to /tmp/subprocess.log, banner-separated per run
